General Motors and its joint ventures in China are showcasing 41 production and concept vehicles under several of their brands at Auto China 2012.

“Auto China 2012 gives us a unique opportunity to introduce our unmatched product lineup, brand portfolio and technology to consumers in the world’s largest vehicle market,” said Kevin Wale, President and Managing Director of the GM China Group. “Car buyers will see once again why General Motors has been the leader among global automakers in China for seven consecutive years.”

Buick
Two Buick models making their debut in Beijing are Irmscher-modified versions of the Regal GS and Excelle XT. The popular Buick Envision concept is also on display; it foreshadows future development plans for the brand’s SUV lineup. Visitors can also experience the brand’s cutting-edge technologies through its interactive display featuring its SIDI and turbo SIDI engines, eAssist, FlexRide and OnStar technologies.

Chevrolet
Making its worldwide debut at Auto China 2012 is the Chevrolet Malibu with a 1.6L turbo engine. Chevrolet’s new global midsize sedan went on sale in China in mid-February. Shanghai GM also celebrated the sale of a very special Malibu, its 2 millionth Chevrolet vehicle since introducing the brand in 2005.

The Malibu is joined by three innovative concept cars that are making their China premiere. The Miray roadster, which was developed in South Korea, pays tribute to Chevrolet's sports car heritage and represents the brand’s future vehicle design and powertrain trends. The Chevrolet Code 130R and Tru 140S, two “youth concepts” that were created to address the requirements of younger customers and solicit their feedback, have made their way to China following appearances in the U.S. and Europe.

Cadillac
Cadillac has announced that two new luxury models will join its product portfolio in China. The XTS luxury sedan will be built and sold in China beginning later this year. It delivers Cadillac’s signature space, elegance and styling along with great driving dynamics and will be the most technically advanced car brought to production to date.

Another new model that will become a member of the Cadillac family in China in the future is the ELR luxury electric coupe. It combines the driving pleasure of a luxury coupe with an efficient, electric propulsion system. Details on timing will be announced closer to the start of sales. Cadillac is also showcasing the Ciel Convertible concept, which is making its first appearance in the Asia Pacific region at Auto China 2012 and previews the future design direction of GM’s luxury brand.

Baojun
Baojun is showing for the first time the second variant of its 630 passenger car family, a 630 with a 1.5L DVVT engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The 630 with a manual transmission was the first model in the indigenous brand’s lineup introduced last August. Both models are on display at SAIC-GM-Wuling’s stand.

Jiefang/Kuncheng
FAW-GM, GM’s light duty commercial vehicle joint venture, is highlighting two models at Auto China 2012. The Jiefang L330 light duty truck is making its global introduction and the Kuncheng pickup that went on sale last year is being displayed as well.
