How is the 370Z exactly a heavy car? Its heavier than the FT-86 but thats a sad comparison. If you don't like the car, thats fine. Don't make ridiculous claims about its specs.

All Z are fun to drive. Never complained about the Z33's weight either and like all VQ's the engine is course and noisy at high revs under full throttle. Driving daily, normally, smooth as silk and it noisy in a good way.

Music to my ears.

The Z was never a smooth car to begin with. It was meant to be raw. Its not a Z if its all smooth. It a Ferrari a Ferrari without a high strung engine? Rotaries need to be revved and have a rasp, and VQs will always be raspy and coarse but they sound great. Its got to be the best sounding V6 to be ever built. For overall 6-cyl engines, I'd put it right under the Porsche flat 6 for sound pleasure.

The car weighs like 3200 lbs. Yeah, portly sumbitch isn't it? rofl

Its a featherweight by today's standards.

I love the noise the VQ makes. Like you said, The Z is a sports car, it's not going to be refined. Like asking Charlie Sheen to stop doing Coke.

yep. It's only smooth till about 4500 rpms then after that, you feel it through the shifter, clutch pedal and gas pedal. Then when it returns to idle, like the car isn't even on. I can confirm that since I have owned a total of 3 Vq's.

Vq's equipeed with autos (my girls X black g35) are ten times quieter and smoother.

Its more like asking Charlie Sheen to stop winning. Its not going to happen.

I don't get this whole "sports cars need to be smooth" mentality. If you want a smooth car with sporting intentions get a Camry Solara. Otherwise quite being a pussy and man up to a real car and quit your bitching. There is a difference between a sports car and a Touring car.

RE: World debut for Toyota GT 86 sports car at the Tokyo motor show - LovemyPathfinder - 11-26-2011 11:38 PM

The smoother the sports car the heavier it is, that is why 3 series, C's and the G's are so heavy, and that is why they are smoother and quieter. Sound deadending, heavy large engine mounts that absorb vibrations all that takes away "sport" from sports car.

Also the reason why i don't drive a sports car daily. Rev i don't know how you do it. couldn't live with a Z man.

To me its confidence inspiring. If I can feel how the tires are doing, and can get feed back from the steering at any position and have sensitive brakes, I can drive the living hell out of it comfortably with no problem. When I'm on the track, I don't want to feel comfortable, I want sensory input. Same with my driving. I got spoiled with my RX-8, I can't drive the GS confidently. Its much smoother, but I don't have the same feel in the braking and steering and I don't feel confident in the car. I liked the old 5-Series so much because I could feel all of that. I drive cars today and I can't get excited to drive. They either have too much brake dive or they have no feel from the pedals or the steering and its just boring. I love my older sports car because of it.

RE: World debut for Toyota GT 86 sports car at the Tokyo motor show - LovemyPathfinder - 11-26-2011 11:55 PM

Nope, not me. since i drive 120 miles a day during the week, i want a car that is fun to drive when need be but is comfortable most of the time. I can't complain with the G35, though i wish it didn't understeer as much as it does when pushed, but that is probably because i have winter tires on.

Also i fucking hate camber! eats your tires like nothing and makes them real effin noisy. And i hate the effin viscous. Wish it had a torsen.

I'm not going to judge the 86 just yet. just a bit disapointed with the design and the tires look way to skinny that it doesn't look right. It needs to be staggerd and those rims are pathetic looking. shoulda went with traditional 5 spokes.

But you know what, if its fun and comfortable, it could be a winner. though.. i think i'll go look at the subaru first.

I can completely understand your position. You have a GT car and I love GT cars. GT cars give you half and half. You get the comfort and civility for commutes yet the sporting intentions that sports cars provide. I feel that the G coupe became the Silvia which was mostly a GT car while the Z was the hard core sports car oriented model. The 240s were always more comfortable than the Z cars.
