RE: XLR-V.....yay or nay
Whatever the LS7 is the epitome of the best decision ever.

“The build sheet is the wish list of any racer: lightweight high-revving dry-sump LS7 engine; carbon-ceramic brakes; integrated coolers; true aerodynamic downforce, and a significant reduction in curb weight. This car could only come from Chevrolet, and could only be called the Z/28.”

But I guess it was to save cost

That's all GM does is try to save cost. Then the Cobalt happens. Then the G5. Then the Aveo/G3...

The LS is cheaper, simpler and more reliable, but I do wish they would build a motor specifically for Caddy.

It would have been very easy to update the Northstar. DI and VVT along with good head gasket design would have pushed it to the top of the heap.

That would have upped costs even more.
The Northstar was a surprisingly expensive motor for GM.

If they want to command top dollar for Cadillacs they better have something to show for it other than garden variety GM engines from the parts bin.

Considering these garden variety engines are basically the best V8's ever made...

Still doesn't make Cadillacs anywhere near worth their prices. Resale values reflect that.

I love the XLR in general.

Pretty frakking pissed GM dropped it rather than fix it up, it had potential, especially if they made it more Corvette-ish (Handling/Agility), then redid the -V to feature the current CTS' 556hp SC engine w/similar Recaro's and stick, that'd be dope!

Didn't get a good look at the price, but I'd consider owning one in the future, just w/a Manual Conversion and a ZR1 Engine dropped in, then black it out

Right.. because BMWs and Mercedes hold their value.. rofl

Dollar for dollar Cadillacs new offerings hold their value better (and ill go on a limb here) or comparative to their competition.

Which is telling considering their price points ..
