There seems to have been an explosion of exotic builders as new markets have opened up. Exotics are now built more like aircraft than mainstream automobiles. Can you identify this one?

Make and Model?

Bas - I am completely stumped. I have never seen this car before. Is this a concept or is it an actual runner? Is there just the prototype or is this car in production?

Whatever it is, it looks hot.
The color is a clue. It is named after a famous race driver who has won major races in multiple series (more than one class of top cars) for whom the color was significant. The current version has an American motor. My understanding is that it is in production but in limited numbers as befitting an exotic with an exotic price tag and lots of carbon fiber.
I've still got nothing. Richie Evans used that color (or something very similar) as his signature color but he was a NASCAR guy - nothing so exotic as this.

idk
I've seen a video about this car but no idea what it was
McLarens of a certain age and series were this orange if that helps. That might give you either the name of the famous driver or the model name of the car.

One more clue. It is not made in the United States though the coupe has the heart of a Corvette.

A side-view. Only 20 copies to be sold.

To comply with current international automotive lighting standards the production model's nose is slightly revised (it is road legal), incorporating the latest lessons from Formula 1 aerodynamics. These are really bespoke, limited edition models.

It's named after a famous driver (no longer living, but who is still a point of nationalist pride in his home country).

Ooooh, the plot thickens with the last clue!

I still have no idea, but the point still stands! LOL

P.S. I still am stumped. I was thinking you might have been referring to Ayrton Senna, Bas. But I got nuttin'.

This racing legend is farther back in time. He raced successfully around the globe in several top series and helped establish a racing team dynasty driving for his friend and compatriot. That team still survives today.

I already tried Fangio, Phil Hill and came up with nada. You are a wily one today, Bas.
Think of famous orange race cars, both open wheel and closed wheel open cockpit. However, he won his championship in a green car.
I finally 'homed' in on what you were hinting at, Bas.

Is it the Hulme F1 (also referred to I heard in a video as the "Can-Am")?

P.S. His is a name that has only slightly entered my gray matter in the past. I have heard his name before but he certainly did not come to mind when you first gave out your clues, Bas. I like the nickname ascribed to him "The Barefoot Boy From Te Puke". It took until the early 60's for people to convince him to wear shoes while driving? LOL

Nice one.
I think they couldn't get approval to use F1 and switched to the CanAm designation.

With 700+ horsepower and carbon fiber light weight, it is blistering fast and quick.

I found it to be very neatly designed. The open cockpit model is great too. A true road going race car. Denny Hulme dates from the great years that saw Indy switch to rear wheel drive, CanAm as a world class racing series, and of course Formula 1 success as World Champion in 1967. CanAm champion in 1970. He lost friends Bruce McLaren and Peter Revson (McLaren and Shadow) to racing accidents. I was a huge Shadow and Chaparral fan (pun in there if you know racing history). I saw one CanAm race when I was a little kid. Those were great cars.

McLaren and Hulme were both Kiwis (New Zealanders). The car is made in New Zealand.

Now, Lengnert you have to find one equally hard. This car is definitely out of my price range, but it is way cool.
Yeah that is the 'curse' of finding the answer, you have to find a way to outdo the previous thread!

I don't know as I will accomplish that, but I will try.

And I actually never knew McLaren was a New Zealander!
